Richard S. McDonald was born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa. He graduated with honors from Simpson College and received his Doctoral Degree of Dental Surgery from the University of Iowa.
After completion of dental school, Dr. McDonald joined the United States Air Force and was stationed at Carswell Air Force Base in Fort Worth, Texas as a Dental Officer. After fulfilling his 3 years’ service obligation with the Air Force, Dr. McDonald chose to remain in Fort Worth where he started his private practice. Dr. McDonald is very respected among his dental colleagues and patients for his outstanding dental work and compassionate, gentle dental care.
After 40 years of private practice, Dr. McDonald elected to sell his practice and retire. Rather than completely removing himself from dentistry, he has elected to continue his passion in dentistry by teaching. It is his pleasure to share his knowledge and years of experience with dental assisting students.
Dr. McDonald and his wife Sheila have teamed up to run the Texas Academy of Dental Assisting. This remarkable school continues in the tradition of excellence by turning out superior entry level dental assistants.
